At MCCCD, Dr. Morgenthal is the Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure and Customer Care (ICC) at Maricopa Community Colleges. As the Associate Vice Chancellor for ICC, Julie is responsible for the strategic and operational direction of Maricopa's enterprise information technology infrastructure and customer care division. As a member of the Maricopa Information Technology Services leadership team, Julie provides leadership, coordination and strategic direction for all aspects of Maricopa's technology infrastructure and customer care services. Julie works collaboratively with partners across Maricopa in the information technology services area and oversees a highly available district-wide technology infrastructure including servers, storage, database systems, virtualization, data centers, operations monitoring, network communications, help desk, desktop and audio/video services.
Dr. Julie Morgenthal has worked as Technology Director in the education environment for over 20 years. Prior to MCCCD, she led the Balsz School District to be one of the first in the state to implement a 1:1 take home model to bridge the digital divide for families in the community. She has expertise in facilitating the integration of digital tools in teaching and learning and implementing best practices to meet organizational goals. She has led multi-million dollar technology infrastructure/cyber security projects, collaborated with educational staff on the development of a district-wide data warehouse and other data initiatives to improve student achievement, and secured over a million dollars in grant funding for educational technology improvements.
She earned her degrees from Arizona State University and DeVry University, and started her educational journey as a transfer student at Glendale Community College.
