Board Policies

One of the most important roles of the Governing Board is to identify outcomes for the purpose of better serving and being accountable to its constituencies. These constituencies include the people of Maricopa County, students, private and public sector employers, universities, and primary and secondary schools.

  • At the February 22, 2011 Board meeting, the Governing Board adopted a revised set of Board policies, noted below. Some former Board policy language was moved to the Administrative Regulations section under a new heading called Board Resources (Section 6).
  • At the October 22, 2013 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended a revised set of Board policies, moving 2.11 College Course Materials and 2.12 International Education to the Administrative Regulations section under the heading called Board Resources (Section 6).
  • At the November 26, 2013 Board meeting, the Chancellor presented revised Chancellor's Interpretations as an information item.
  • At the June 24, 2014 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended Board Policy 4.9 Board Committee Structure. 
  • At the August 26, 2014 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended Board Policy 4.4 Board Planning and Agenda Preparation.  
  • At the October 28, 2014 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended Board policy 4.9 Board Committee Structure. 
  • At the December 9, 2014 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended Board policy 4.5.4 Board Meetings. 
  • At the April 28, 2015 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended a revised set of Board policies including 1. Outcomes, Metrics, 3. Board-Staff Relations, and 4. Governance Process.
  • At the May 26, 2015 Board Meeting, the Board amended 4.5 Board Meetings and 4.10 Board Members Code of Conduct. 
  • At the August 23, 2016 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 1.2 Workforce and Economic Development Outcomes and 1.2 Metrics. 
  • At the March 28, 2017 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 1.3 Developmental Education Outcomes and 1.3 Metrics.
  • At the April 25, 2017 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 3.4 Monitoring the Chancellor's Performance.
  • At the January 23, 2018 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 4.5 Board Meetings and 4.9 Board Committee Structure.
  • At the March 27, 2018 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 4.12 Governance Investment.
  • At the February 26, 2019 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 4.9 Board Committee Structure. 
  • At the March 26, 2019 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 4.5 Board Meetings.
  • At the April 23, 2019 Board meeting, the Governing Board approved 4.13 Student Board Member. 
  • At the December 10, 2019 Board meeting, the Governing Board approved amendment to Administrative Regulation 6.20 Whistleblower Protection. 
  • At the May 25, 2021 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 2.7 Staff Compensation and Benefits - Chancellor Limitations and Interpretation and approved adoption of Administrative Regulation 6.25 Settlement Authority. 
  • At the June 28, 2022 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 2.0 Chancellor Limitations and Interpretations.
  • At the May 23, 2023 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 1 Outcomes, 1.0 Global Ends, 1.1 University Transfer, 1.2 Workforce and Economic Development, 1.3 Developmental Education, 1.4 Community Development and Civic and Global Engagement and, 4.1 Governing Values. 
  • At the June 13, 2023 Board Meeting, the Governing Board amended 4.13 Student Board Member.
  • At the June 27, 2023 Board meeting, the Governing Board amended 3.2 Accountability of the Chancellor and, 3.4 Monitoring the Chancellor's Performance.
